procedures, to recovery of bags at the sorting centre
and their transfer to our recycling facilities.
With our dedicated planning unit, we are able to
offer turnkey, tailor-made solutions based on specifications
drawn up in cooperation with local authorities.
Information is critical. Ensuring
that the whole population concerned is properly
informed is clearly essential to the success
of selective collection programs and in this area
we can provide active support with door-to-door
distribution of bags. The personal contacts created
not only help to make people more aware of the importance
of selective collection, but also provide sources
of information that might otherwise be neglected
– and thus help to identify areas for improvement.
This approach is also a way for local authorities
to show their direct concern for the communities
they serve.
SPHERE actively participates in the development
of new initiatives such as the introduction
of “pay-to-use” bags that act as an
incentive to sort waste and reduce volumes. Other
initiatives favour individual or collective composting
with various ranges of 100% biodegradable bags made
entirely from sustainable starch-based materials. |
